Corruption is high presented in government bodies. Taiwanese president 陳水扁 2008 was charged as guilty for stealing 450,000USD of government funds using fake documents. Similarly the Southeast Asian government such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia are known for the corrupt government.

Though Malaysia is said to be a democratic country, the dirty and unfair elections deem the idea of democracy. From the Bersih to the Bersih 2.0 rally, it shows that the citizens are unhappy about the ruling government in electoral frauds such as gerrymandering, postal voting fraud, malapportionment, thus defeats the purpose of the voting system, as the ruling parties will use methods that will keep them in the ruling parliament. In contrast, Taiwan has not had any illegal elections; therefore the government is decided by the majority of the votes.

Cambodia government remains as one of the most corrupted governments of southeast asia. The head of government, Hun Sen, is regarded more as a dictator rather than a prime minister. The ruling party, CPP removes those who challenge the view. The electoral arena is an uneven field and the CPP will continue to stay in power with or without Hun Sen. Though Taiwan also has two parties, the ruling party does not remove or exile the other party, and allow the freedom of speech of political issues.
